And the Winners are…

Salad

So many amazing creations!

Our first Annual Homegrown Recipe Contest was truly a success! I want to express my sincere appreciation for each and every one of our 2011 Homegrown Recipe Contest participants. All of your submissions were wonderful and it was incredibly difficult for us to choose just three winners in each category! However, as promised, we did narrow down all of the tasty recipes to a first, second, and third place in both the Fruits and Vegetables categories. The winners are as follows:

FRUIT CATEGORY

FIRST PLACE: “Orange Glazed Fresh Raspberry Muffins” by Lisa Speer of Palm Beach, Florida

SECOND PLACE: “Lip-Smacking Strawberry Soup” by Kenneth Moore of Washington, D.C.

THIRD PLACE: “Berry Pecan Salad with Red Berry Vinaigrette” by Erin Dalton of East Stone Gap, Virginia

VEGETABLE CATEGORY

FIRST PLACE: “Spring Harvest Bruschetta” by Ellinor Ives

SECOND PLACE: “Springtime Asparagus Pizza” by Mary Marlowe Leverrete of Columbia, South Carolina

THIRD PLACE: “Baked Potato & Mushroom Quesadillas and Tomato Chile Sauce with Fresh Tomato & Avocado Salsa” by Angela McClure of Holly Springs, North Carolina

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to all of our winners! The first place winner in each category will be receiving a $100 gift card to Holland Bulb Farms, the second place a $50 gift card, and the third place winners a $25 gift card in the mail within the next few days. This should help to jump-start their fruit and veggie gardens this spring!

I’ll be posting the first place winners’ recipes in the next couple of days so stay-tuned! Next week I’ll share with you the second- and third-place winners as well. Just a warning: these recipes are extremely tasty and can be somewhat addicting! Thanks again to everyone for making this contest such a success! Looking forward to doing it again next year!
